Farmers urge government to provide compensation

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal Peasants Federation (Revolutionary Centre) has urged the government to provide relief and compensation to the farmers at the earliest.

The Federation has demanded the government to collect data with the participation of the farmers affected by rain, flooding, landslide and inundation, and distribution of compensation to them based on the proportion of damage they have suffered as a result of the natural disasters.

The government on Wednesday decided to provide relief to the flood and landslide- affected farmers.

The Federation called for immediately implementing this decision in a way that the people can feel the declared relief package.

The Federation has also urged the government to guarantee that the genuine farmers get the relief package.

It has emphasized the need of a plan with long-term vision for resolving the various problems resulting from natural disasters and others affecting the agriculture sector.
