Change of leadership necessary for retaining NC’s fundamental principles: Leader Singh

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh has said that a change of leadership is needed to preserve the party’s fundamental principles.

Speaking at a program organized Wednesday to congratulate the newly elected NC office bearers of Kathmandu Ward 32, Singh said that a change of leadership was necessary to maintain the trust and confidence of the people in the party. He accused the incumbent leadership of carrying out undemocratic activities, hampering the party’s fundamental values.

Stating that the party leadership had tried to hold the upcoming general convention in an undemocratic manner, he said he would not allow it to happen. He added the tendency of the leaders fiercely competing for the post and relegating responsibilities after gaining the post was creating problems in the party.

Stating that democracy and the NC were two sides of the same coin, he stressed the need to internalize democracy within the party as well.
