Speaker Sapkota filed writ could not be heard at SC Wednesday

KATHMANDU: A writ petition filed by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota in 2011 was not heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

The contempt of court case filed by Sapkota against journalist Kanak Mani Dixit while he was the Minister of Communication and Information was scheduled to be heard by the constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Mira Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada on Wednesday.

However, the case could not be heard due to conflict of interest of Justice Hari Krishna Karki, a Supreme Court official said. Justice Karki had argued in the case in the past while he was a lawyer.

The case has been postponed a couple of times already in the past.
