Govt to ban use of plastic bags in shopping malls, department stores



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to ban the use of plastics thinner than 40 microns.

Unveiling the budget for the coming fiscal year 2021/22, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said that the use of such plastics will be banned.

Although the law had earlier made provisions to stop the use of such plastics, it was not implemented.

At the same time, Finance Minister Poudel has said that the use of plastic in shopping malls, department stores will also be banned.
