China proposes to set up two plants with five SAARC countries, including Nepal

KATHMANDU: China has proposed to establish a China-South Asia Emergency Supply Mechanism and a China-South Asia Poverty Alleviation and Development Partnership Center, with five South Asian countries, including Nepal.

Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have given their consent to China’s proposal, a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.

The statement stated that the mechanism would be formed through friendly consultation with all parties.

China has said it would set up a cooperation mechanism with these countries in South Asia except Bhutan, India, and the Maldives.
