NA’s Mahatara finishes first in ultra-marathon



KATHMANDU: Devraj Mahatara of Tribhuvan Army Club finished first in the fourth 44 kilometers ultra-marathon by completing it in three hours three minutes 51 seconds.

Suman Kulung Rai of Solukhumbu finished second and Bed Bahadur Sunuwar of Tribhuvan Army Club third.

Rai completed the distance in three hours, eight minutes and one second and Sunuwar in three hours 10 minutes five seconds.

A total of 180 athletes from 20 districts (Including Tanahun, Gorkha, Kaski, Lamjung, Syangja, Sindhuli, Baglung, Rukum, Solukhumbu, Parbat, Kathmandu, Dhading and Myagdi) participated in the marathon that went through Siddha Marga, Alaiche-Anashan Chautari-Bhorletar Chok-Baireni-Satrasaya-Barlachi-Baguwa Risti-Bahun Pokhara-Pulimrang, said municipality spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha.

Winner has received Rs 85,077, the first runner-up Rs 65,077, the second runner-up Rs 55,077 and the third runner-up Rs 16,077.

The marathon was organized by Byas Municipality in the district.
