Nepal Bar to hit streets, bar CJ from entering Court as part of protests

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association is making preparations to protest during the bench session, bar Chief Justice from entering the Supreme Court and hit the streets against Rana.

The Association will unveil the protest programs Friday if Chief Justice did not tender his resignation by today, informed Association’s Chairman Chandeshwor Shrestha.

According to Generally Secretary Lilamani Paudel, protest programs will be held inside the court as well as outside the court.
“First of all, the advocates will stage protests wearing black arm bands and then boycott the benches if the demand was not heard,” said Paudel.

“The Association might bar Chief Justice and halt legal proceedings for some hours across the country. We will be forced to stage stringent protests in the days if Chief Justice did not resign,” said Paudel.

Supreme Court Justices have continued with their protests demanding Rana’s resignation to resolve the present judicial crisis. They have been boycotting assigned benches since last Monday to exert pressure on Chief Justice Rana to step down.
