Ramesh Badal, Sushil Panta and Agni Kharel to advocate

KATHMANDU: Government attorneys are delivering their arguments on the writ petition filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on behalf of the defendant from today.

Deliberation on the writ petition on behalf of the plaintiffs concluded on Sunday.

Attorney General Ramesh Badal and former attorney general duo Sushil Panta and Agni Kharel are advocating on the writ petition on behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today. A total of 15 hours has been allocated for government attorneys to deliver their arguments.

Legal practitioners on behalf of the petitioners have demanded that the Supreme Court should issue a mandamus for the appointment of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister claiming that a majority of lawmakers are in his support.

Presenting their views, advocates argued that it is wrong to dissolve the HoR when there was a possibility to form an alternative government.

As many as 146 lawmakers have filed a writ petition at the SC demanding reinstatement of the HoR.

They have also questioned the role of President Bidya Bhandari during the delivery of their arguments.

The Constitutional Bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana had given 12 hours to advocates on behalf of petitioners. As many as 36 petitioners have advocated on the writ petition on behalf of complainants.
