KATHMANDU: A prohibitory order has been extended for a week with stricter measures in the Kathmandu Valley from today.

A joint meeting of chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur has decided to impose stricter measures even not allowing grocery shops to open for a week.

Vegetable shops are allowed to open until 9 am but the grocery shops will remain closed during the period. This measure has been adopted after the cases of COVID-19 did not subside with the increasing movement of people.

This prohibitory order will remain effective until June 3 (midnight) from today.

The order violators will be penalized as per the infection management of COVID-19 ordinance.

According to the provision, the order violator will be jailed for one year or fined of up to Rs 500,000.

Kathmandu District Administration on Monday had issued the ordinance to effectively control and prevent the COVID-19.
