Government exempts tax on oxygen cylinders

KATHMANDU: The cabinet meeting has decided to provide tax exemption on oxygen cylinders.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Parbat Gurung informed that the government has decided to give tax exemption to prevent a shortage of oxygen cylinders in hospitals due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the alarming surge of coronavirus infections in Nepal, public health experts are demanding to be prepared to prevent a lack of oxygen in the hospital.

Stakeholders have said that there is no shortage of oxygen cylinders in Nepal at present.

They have been saying that Nepal needs to produce oxygen on a daily basis and emphasis should be laid on the provision of cylinders.
