Nepali Embassy in Oman pays reverence to writer Harthi



KATHMANDU: Oman-based Nepali Embassy organized a webinar on literature and nature.

The event was organized as respect (posthumously) to the late Mohammed Al Harthi who had contributed to the promotion of Nepali tourism and literature through the publication of the memoir on the Nepal journey. He has talked about touristic sites in and around the Kathmandu in his memoir.

During the programme, Nepali Ambassador to Oman Sharmila Parajuli shed light on Harthi’s Nepal visit and his subsequent publication. The Ambassador presented a letter of honour to Harthi’s daughter and children’s books author and illustrator Ibtihaj Al Harthi.

A website dedicated to the late Harti was also launched on the occasion.

Professor Tulsi Diwas expressed his happiness for getting an opportunity to pay reverence to the late Omani writer.

He gave his view about how to connect people with the nature through the means of poetry.

Omani national Shree Baida Al Zadjali and Janey McGill who travelled through Empty Quarter, a vast inhabited desert in the Middle East shared experiences about adventurous journey.

As they said, they came to know about Nepal through the creations of Harthi.

Poet Nawaraj Parajuli while sharing his experiences about book and language translations, highlighted Harthi’s contribution to Nepali literature.

Around 50 people including Nadira Al Harthi, the first woman of Oman to scale the Mount Everest; Ines Pires of School of International Diplomacy and Protocol and writer Lakshmi Kothaneth attended the virtual event.
