KATHMANDU: The Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU) has awarded the degree of PhD to Swami Keshavananda Giri for his dissertation on the subject of Navya Byakaran.
The topic of Giri’s PhD thesis is ‘Paniniyashtadhyathyamadwaitavada’ or ‘Adwaita philosophy in the Ashtadhyayi of Panini’. The PHD has been awarded on the recommendation of the NSU Research Centre, Examination Controller Dr Baburam Acharya said.
Giri is lately involved in the campaign of facilitating mass education by connecting oriental philosophy with technology.
He studied at the Mahesh Gurukul operated by the Mahesh Sanyas Ashram. He also later served as the Principal of the Gurukul.
Giri is also a lexicographer. He has prepared a Sanskrit-Nepali e-dictionary with 400 thousand entries. One can look up words in four languages in the e-dictionary, namely, in Sanskrit, Nepali, English, and Hindi.

Swami Keshavananda Giri is currently the President of the National Gurukul Council Nepal. He has published several books on oriental philosophy in an easy-to-read format.
