President appoints Prabhuram Sharma as Chief of Army Staff



KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed acting Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma as the new Chief of Army Staff.

According to the President’s Office on Friday, Prabhuram Sharma has been appointed as the Chief of Army Staff with effect from September 9 pursuant to Article 267 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa is retiring on September 9. Sharma was appointed action Chief of Army Staff on August 9.
