Funeral attendee dies after being swept away by river



DANG: A person who went to attend a funeral procession in Dang has died after being swept by the Babai River in Dang district.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Bamdev Devkota of Dangisharan rural municipality-1, informed DSP Shyamu Aryal, Chief of the Area Police Office.

According to DSP Aryal, Devkota was swept away by the swollen Babari River near the under construction Babai Bridge at around 10 am today. His body was found 500 meters south of Baibang.

“After the death of a villager, the locals had gone to participate in a funeral procession,” said DSP Aryal.

It is customary for people who go to attend the funeral procession to take a bath on their way back home.
Devkota was swept away while taking the bath, police said.
