Govt appoints Lieutenant General Sharma as acting CoAS from August 9



KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Lieutenant General Prabhuram Sharma as acting Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) with effect from August 9.

A cabinet meeting held in Baluwatar Tuesday decided in this regard.

The President will appoint Sharma as the CoAS.

Current CoAS General Purna Chandra Thapa is retiring on September 9 after which Sharma will automatically be promoted to CoAS.

Sharma will serve as acting CoAS for one month beginning August 9.
