KATHMANDU: UML leader and National Assembly member Beduram Bhusal has announced that he quit his party membership.
Bhusal even registered a letter in this regard with the Federal Parliament Secretariat on Sunday. In the letter addressed to the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament Secretariat, Bhusal requested to being treated as an independent lawmaker.
He stated that he was elected to National Assembly from the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party (NCP), which was formed by the merger of UML and Maoist Center, and after the Supreme Court nullified the NCP many others like him have been without political affiliation. “In this context, I would like to be treated as an independent.”
He also attached the party ticket, which was given to him in course of contesting the election, and the letter provided to him by the Election Commission declaring his NA membership, with the application. Bhusal also requested the accounts department not deposit any amounts, he is entitled to in form of remuneration or levy, in the bank account of any political party.
Bhusal is considered an influential leader of the UML’s Madhav Kumar Nepal faction.
