Four African footballers held while entering India via Nepal



JHAPA: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a border guarding force of India, has arrested four African football players who entered India illegally via the route of Nepal.

An SSB team from took them under control from Nepal-India border Pillar no 822 near Tikriya settlement at 3:30 pm on Monday.

The arrested had entered India stealthily through the Milan Chowk checkpoints based at Mechinagar municipality-4, Bahundanda.

According to SSB, the arrested include 25-year-old Tina Dayar and Agaume Ambasha Lin Raul, 30, of Republic of Cameroon, Camara Fofana, 20, from Republic of Guinea-Bissau and Edzobo Odzumonala Armal Odilo, 22, of Republic of Benin

A passport, IRs 48,330, NRs 50, football shoes and a bag have been seized from their possession.

They had come to Nepal to play football from the Nepali football team side as per the agreement and were going to visit India after their contract was over, the SSB quoted as saying.

All the arrested have been handed over to the Naxalbari Police Station for necessary actions.
