Police nab 7 in connection with ward chair’s death



KATHMANDU: Kanchanpur police has nabbed seven persons in connection with the ward chair’s mysterious death during a picnic on Friday.

According to Surendra Bista, the Mayor of Bhimdutta municipality, Madan Bahadur Chand, the Chairman of Ward No. 5 had died while in a picnic.

“Eight people including the ward chair, and other staff members of the ward office had gone to a picnic yesterday,” Mayor Bista said, adding “According to the participants, Chand complained something stuck to his throat and was rushed to Mahakali Hospital. the hospital pronounced him dead.”

The police have arrested all seven who had been to picnic for inquiry.

“Primary investigation shows Chand was drunk and a piece of bone got stuck to his throat while eating meat, but details will be offered after further investigation,” Kanchanpur police said.
