Chief Justice Rana should resign from post to ease tension at SC: Supreme Court Bar

KATHMANDU: Secretary of the Supreme Court (SC) Chapter of Nepal Bar Association Rishi Ghimire has reiterated that Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana should ease the tension at SC by resigning from the post.

Speaking at a radio program in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Secretary Ghimire remarked that the court has been in serious crisis for the past 23 days due to the incompetent leadership in the judiciary.

He clarified that Monday’s meeting of Nepal Bar Association (NBA) had concluded that the leadership of the judiciary has failed and Chief Justice Rana should resolve the crisis tactfully, vacating the position.

“Our concern is towards the tarnishing image of judiciary,” Ghimire said, demanding, “The leadership of the judiciary should take it seriously.”

He appreciated the achievements of judiciary during Chief Justice Rana’s tenure. Yet, he reiterated that the Chief Justice should heed the conclusions drawn at Supreme Court Bar meeting and help judiciary overcome present crisis.
