Lalitpur hospital fined Rs. 30,000 for charging up to Rs 2,500 for antigen test



KATHMANDU: A private hospital has faced action for charging more than the prescribed amount for antigen testing in Lalitpur.

According to Lalitpur Assistant Chief District Officer Lalit Kumar Basnet, Sumeru Hospital in Pulchowk was fined Rs. 30,000 after it found evidence that it was fleecing service seekers.

Basnet said, “A joint market monitoring team inspected the hospital Friday after receiving a complaint from service seekers. It was found that the hospital was charging up to Rs. 2,500 for antigen test. We took action against the hospital for taking more money than prescribed from the patient.”

He added they also warned the hospital not to repeat such overcharging activities.

According to Basnet, the government has fixed Rs. 1,000 for antigen test.
