President seems to work only for PM Oli, won’t betray leader Nepal: NC President Deuba

Leader Nepal reciprocates commitment to Deuba, says won't leave Deuba stranded regardless of party unity efforts

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said President Bidhya Devi Bhandari seemed to be subservient to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and that he would not dare to betray senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Speaking at an interaction held by the opposition alliance at Lohtse Hall of the Federal Parliament building in New Baneshwor Saturday, Deuba said, “The President dismissing my claim, backed by 149 Members of Parliament (MPs), for the Prime Minister’s post and hurriedly declaring elections at mid-night showed that the President is merely PM Oli’s cadre.” He regretted the Preisident’s move.

He expressed confidence that the Supreme Court (SC) would rule in their favor.

Meanwhile, he also assured that he would not betray UML leader Nepal as 23 lawmakers close to Nepal have supported Deuba’s claim to PM’s post, even in the writ filed at SC.

Leader Nepal too extended his commitment not to betray Deuba in the present context as efforts were intensified to settle the dispute in the UML and he was being offered to become the PM.

Leader Nepal said, “We won’t leave Deuba stranded regardless of settlement of intra-UML dispute,” adding, “Madhav Nepal is not someone who breaks his words. The process we have initiated in the court will reach its conclusion. We won’t withdraw our signatures from the writ.”
