A tanker kills two children in different accidents same day



SAPTARI: A tanker has hit two motorcycles at a distance of two kilometers in Agnisair Krishnasavaran-2 of Saptari along the East-West Highway and killed two children on Saturday afternoon.

According to sources, Na 7 Kha 5495 number tanker hit Sa 11 Pa 2585 and Sa 2 Pa 5245 within two kilometers of East West Highway at Sitapur on Saturday.

One girl each was killed and three others were injured in the collision.

The deceased has been identified as Yasodha Kumari Pramani, 8, daughter of Bishnu Dev Pramani of Rupani-3, Kataiya. Her mother Sumandevi Pramani, 32, and uncle Kusumlal Mandal were injured in the incident.

Similarly, the same tanker hit Sa 2 Pa 5245 at Chandani Chowk, about 2 km from Sitapur killing a girl there as well.

The deceased has been identified as Sumaiya Pravin, 7, daughter of Aran Jaib of Ghoghanpur in Kanchanrup Municipality-6. Similarly, Naviya Pravin, who was riding the same motorcycle, was also injured in the accident.

According to SP Rajendra Prasad Dhamala of  District Police Office, Saptari the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Thelia for treatment.

Meanwhile, the locals have blocked the highway by placing dead bodies on the road immediately after the accident. They have been demanding compensation to the family of the deceased and an action against the tanker driver.
