Dhawalagiri Hospital getting ambulance on charity

KATHMANDU: A group of people from Baglung and currently residing in Australia have financially assisted the Dhawalagiri Hospital to buy an ambulance with advanced features.

Presently, the hospital owns one ambulance and it will be soon getting one more with the help of Prabashi Nepali from the district.

The people of Baglung who have reached Australia in course of further study and jobs have launched a fundraising campaign to assist the hospital when the country is grappling with the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the initial phase, they handed Rs one million to the facility, said Suman Bista, the campaign coordinator.

“We want that no one has to die on the way to the hospital in absence of ambulance with medical support features and our efforts are for serving the humanitarian assistance during this crisis,’’ he said.

The new ambulance will cost around Rs 2.85 million with the exemption of customs duty and it will have the capacity of accommodating two patients and equipped with essential features.

Hospital management committee chair KP Rana Magar said they are likely to receive the remaining amount within a week and have a new ambulance within a month.

Suman’s father Tilak handed a cheque of Rs one million to Rana.
