MAHENDRANAGAR: Kanchanpur police have raided the Thakurathi Hardware at Street No. 1 in Mahendranagar Bazaar and confiscated the antique bells formerly offered by devotees.

According to DSP Siddharaj Neupane, the Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, the police raided the hardware on the basis of information that the ancient bells offered to the temples long before were being sold from the Hardware.

The police arrested two workers who were reluctant to open the warehouse saying that it was rented by the bank.

Among the arrested are Padak Koli, 58, of Bhimdatta Municipality-15 and Dhaniram Tamata, 38, of Baitadi.

DSP Neupane informed that officials of Siddha Baijnath Temple and the owner of the warehouse will also be called for investigation.

Trader Thakurathi, on the other hand, claimed that he procured the bells kept in auction by the temple committee.

Further investigation is underway for details, the police said.
