Education Ministry directs to operate schools by adopting safety measures

KATHMANDU: Stating the high-risk of coronavirus infection spread, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has directed to operate schools only in full compliance with the health safety standards.

A meeting of officials of various agencies, including Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha, on Thursday, directed all educational institutions to fully comply with the public health standards set by the Ministry of Health and Population as well as additional standards set by the state government and municipality.

The ministry has instructed educational institutions to follow the rules of using masks and sanitizers, washing hands with soap and water, measuring fever, and contacting the nearest health institution in case of any infection.

The ministry has also instructed not to organize large events such as gatherings, ceremonies, and annual celebrations in educational institutions.

The ministry also warned that schools should be run in a non-crowded manner while conducting daily lessons and  fully implement the school operation framework 2020.

The government has been urging people to adopt health safety standards as the number of coronavirus infections has been on the rise.
