North Korea fires two ballistic missiles

KATHMANDU: North Korea has fired two ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan, the first such test since Joe Biden took charge as US President, BBC reported.

High-ranking officials have of the US Intelligence Agency have confirmed the test, according to a CNN report.

Only a few days ago, North Korea reportedly fired two non-ballistic missiles into the Yellow Sea.

Pyongyang is banned from testing ballistic missiles under UN Security Council resolutions.

Japan said no debris had fallen within its territorial waters even though the missiles were reported to have fired into the Sea of Japan.

The US Pacific Command, which oversees military forces in the Asia-Pacific region, said that North Korea’s illicit weapons program poses a risk to its neighbors and the international community.
