Minister Aryal pledges implementation of modern agriculture technology

KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Padma Kumari Aryal has pledged to implement the Israeli agriculture technology to aid the government’s goal of commercialization and modernization of the agriculture sector in Nepal.

Inspecting an under-construction building for the commercial farming and livestock training centre of Shree Jung Battalion of Nepali Army at Beshisahar in Lamjung on Thursday, Minister Aryal asserted that country would only prosper through commercialization of agriculture

Aryal argued that the country could move in the path of prosperity if we would adopt and emulate the Israeli agriculture technology in our agriculture sector.

“Through the modernization, commercialization and mechanization of the agriculture sector of agriculture, the government could realize the motto- ‘Prosper Nepal, Happy Nepali’.”

The Minister shared that her Ministry was going to implement Israeli farming technology by setting up ‘Agriculture Centre of Excellence’ (ACE) in all seven provinces. The Ministry was going to establish an ACE at Nawalpur in Sarlahi district in this fiscal year, according to her.

Furthermore, she informed that a steering committee has been formed by both the Government of Nepal and Government of Israel to bring and implement the Israeli farming technology in all parts of the country.

The Minister said that a total of 2,500 Nepali farmers have already received training in Israel on commercial farming and more farmers would be sent to Israel to train them on the same.

On the occasion, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Hanan Goder-Goldberger shared that Israel was exporting agro products after being self-reliant.

According to ambassador, it was possible due to innovative technology adopted by Israel in the development of the agriculture sector.

Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry Dr Yogendra Karki, Nepali Army Lieutenant General Prabhu Kumar Sharma and Beshishahar Municipality Mayor Guman Singh Aryal among others had opined to attract the youths in agriculture sector.
