PM’s recent remarks have tarnished dignity of the post: NC

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has objected to Prime Minister KP Oli’s statement that “those opposing Parliament dissolution are anti-nationals”.

The party has made it clear that it is the natural right of everyone to use the right guaranteed by the constitution to have a different opinion, to express their views, and to protest.

“This statement of the Prime Minister is undemocratic and it has further exposed his dictatorial aspirations. The Nepali Congress is clear that standing up in the struggle against the dictatorship of any color and form is the responsibility, duty, and identity of the patriots,” NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said in a statement on Monday.

Similarly, the party said that Prime Minister terming court proceedings as a ‘show’ was an attempt to frustrate the independent discretion of the court.

Spokesperson Sharma has mentioned in the release that many recent statements of the Prime Minister Oli have tarnished the dignity of the post of Prime Minister.

The party has strongly warned the Prime Minister not to term the voices of a nationwide protest against the ‘unconstitutional’ move of dissolving the parliament as anti-national and not to insult any section, profession, or community of the society.
