Chief Justice Rana calls Full Court meeting for Monday



KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has summoned the Full Court meeting of the Supreme Court for Monday.

CJ Rana called the Full Court meeting after holding a discussion with the Working Committee of the Nepal Bar Association on Sunday. Representatives of Nepal Bar will also participate in the meeting.

The Nepal Bar Working Committee headed by Chairman Chandeshwar Shrestha met CJ today. Legal eagles have been pressuring Nepal Bar to take a firm stand against CJ Rana after he was dragged into various controversies.

“After discussions with us, the Chief Justice has agreed to convene a full court meeting at 1:30 pm on Monday. The judiciary has not gone beyond the concept of fair judiciary. CJ Rana said that he would address all the questions and doubts raised against him at the meeting,” said Nepal Bar General Secretary Lila Mani Poudel.

The use of lottery to assign cases is being started from Tuesday at the Supreme Court. Earlier, the Supreme Court had decided to use lottery to assign cases at the court.
