DUBAI: India and Pakistan will meet today in the Twenty20 World Cup in a contest that remains one of sport’s biggest games.

The arch-rivals rarely play outside of major tournaments due to political tensions, BBC has reported.

So far, India has won all seven of their clashes at the World Cup stage. They last met at the 2019 World Cup in England, it said.

Here are the top five matches between the two sides.

1996 World Cup

India won the match by 39 runs and knocked out Pakistan from the tournament.

2003 World Cup

Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Dravid finished the game for India, clinching victory with just 26 balls remaining.

2007 Twenty20 World Cup final

Fourteen years ago, MS Dhoni led India to win the inaugural T20 World Cup in South Africa.

With just six runs needed to win off four balls, Misbah scooped the ball only to find the secure hands of S Sreesanth, giving India the victory.

2011 World Cup

Pakistan lost by 29 runs as India lifted its second World Cup.

2019 World Cup

Kuldeep Yadav dismissed both the batsmen. The rain-hit match which was delayed many times ended with a comfortable win for India.
