Pre-booking of tickets for Dashain festival from Sept 27



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to open a pre-booking of tickets in view of festive seasons from September 27.

A joint meeting of the Home Ministry, the Department of Transport Management (DoTM), the District Administration Office, Kathmandu and transport entrepreneurs held on Thursday took a decision to this effect.

The DoTM has informed that the ticket can also be booked online in view of the COVID-19 pandemic this year. According to Dr. Loknath Bhusal, the spokesperson of the DoTM, the preparations are underway to operate transport by following health protocols determined by the government.

Even though all the stakeholders have decided to open tickets in advance, there have been disruptions along national highways in many places due to landslides. There have disruptions at 12 places on national highways, according to a report.

Similarly, there is still one-way traffic operation in 124 places on national highways, let along the condition of roads in the rural areas.

Meanwhile, a cabinet meeting is taking place today after the transport entrepreneurs demanded to speed up the road maintenance and filling in ditches.
