KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa said that 54 percent lawmakers have knocked the Supreme Court (SC) door to show that the parliament is capable of giving alternative to the incumbent government.
Speaking to the reporters at SC on Monday, NC leader Thapa said that 146 lawmakers came to the apex court in person to establish the fact that the parliament is still alive and capable to offer the alternative to the government.
“It is unfortunate that an arrogant prime minister has repeatedly forced us to come to court by his violation of the Constitution,” he said.
He said that he was confident the court would reinstate the parliament and listen to their demand as their demands have been as per the words and spirits of the constitution.
“The parliament is capable. 146 lawmakers have come to the court with the belief that the SC will give justice,” Thapa added.
The opposition alliance comprising NC, CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-UML’s Khanal-Nepal faction, Janata Samajbadi Party’s Upendra Yadav faction and Rastriya Janamorcha reached SC Monday afternoon with 146 lawmakers to file a writ against the dissolution of House of Representatives.
