Unified Socialist picks seven vice-chair, forms 301-member Central Committee

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Unified Socialist has picked office bearers, including seven vice-chairmen, in party’s Central Committee (CC) and made the CC a 301-member body.

The party’s Central Committee (CC) meeting held Thursday selected seven vice-chairmen, three deputy general secretaries and four secretaries, said Unified Socialist leader Jagannath Khatiwada.

While Madhav Kumar Nepal is the party chairman, Jhala Nath Khanal is the senior leader and Mukunda Neupane is the leader. After the three, vice-Chairman come in the order of precedence.

The seven vice-chairmen of the party are Rajendra Pandey, Pramesh Hamal, Ghanendra Basnet, Kedar Neupane, Keshav Lal Shrestha, Dharmanath Sah and Jayanti Rai.

Similarly, Beduram Bhusal is the party’s general secretary. Prakash Jwala, Gangadhar Tuladhar and Bijay Poudel have been selected as the deputy general secretaries.

Similarly, Nagendra Prasad Chaudhary, Jagannath Khatiwada, Rajendra Kumar Rai and Ram Kumari Jhankri have been selected as secretaries.

Party leader Jagannath Khatiwada said the CC meeting also formed a 35-member Standing Committee, 71-member Politburo and 301-member Central Committee  have been formed. Similarly, central members were given the responsibility of in-charges in all provinces and districts, he added.

Khatiwada informed that the ‘Immediate Action Plan-2021’ was also passed from the CC meet. The meeting passed current resolutions, including the need for the government to take effective measures to control and vaccinate citizens against coronavirus, and to stop the blackmarketing of goods during the festive season.

Earlier in the day, Chairman Madhav Nepal also clarified that the party wanted to embrace People’s Multi-party Democracy.
