KATHMANDU: CPN-UML’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has hinted that there is the least chance of party unity anymore unless a remarkable repentance comes on party Chair and Prime Minister KP Oli’s part.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the party’s Dhanusha District Committee in Janakpurdham Friday, leader Nepal remarked that the possibility of unity in the party was declining.

He stated that the party is in the throes of a serious crisis and alleged party Chairman Oli is responsible for it.

Earlier, UML Chair PM Oli and senior leader Nepal had held one-to-one talks at Marriot Hotel Kathmandu on Wednesday and Thursday.

“The party got a rare chance to rule as two-third majority government, the majority hold of the party at province and local levels also offered a golden opportunity to work for the people and for the country,” Nepal said, adding, “However, the corrupt leadership in the government not only scoffed the mandate granted through election, but also led the community movement to the verge of extinction.”

He expressed concern over the serious threats on democracy, constitution, federalism and law-and order situation and hailed PM Oli responsible for it.

Also a former Prime Minister, leader Nepal added that the chances of unity in the party are waning and held PM Oli’s arrogance and self-centric decisions responsible for the situation.

He also added that the PM has no right to expel party lawmakers as none of them have done anything against the party party constitution.

Earlier, PM Oli faction of the party had hinted that they were tightening noose against the rebelling 27 lawmakers who listened to ‘their conscience’ rather than the party directions.
