Minister Gyawali lauds role by NRNA during COVID crisis

Special General Convention of NRNA kicks off virtually



KATHMANDU: The Special General Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has started on Saturday.

Preparations have been made to present financial, annual, and legislative amendment proposals in the General Convention at the conference which will continue till tomorrow through a virtual medium.

Inaugurating the convention, Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali praised the role played by non-resident Nepalis in the global transmission of the coronavirus.

Minister Gyawali lauded the important role played by non-resident Nepalis in the relief, rescue, and treatment of Nepalis in crisis.

Recalling that for the first time, the Constitution of Nepal has formally recognized non-resident Nepalis and provided NRN citizenship, Minister Gyawali said that the policy of the Government of Nepal was to link the knowledge and skills of Nepalis living abroad with Nepal’s development.

Addressing the special convention, NRNA Chief Patron and Former President Shesh Ghale suggested that the general convention discuss women, youth, second generation, and the future of the association.
