CJ Rana assigns 454 cases to 13 benches on Monday

KATHMANDU: Despite the protests from the justices and lawyers including the officials of Nepal Bar Association (NBA), Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has assigned 454 cases to 13 benches for Monday.

According to Supreme Court sources, the chief justice has assigned 454 cases in 12 division and one single bench today. He has not set any case for himself.

The source informed that there will be a single bench of Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut.

NBA, the umbrella organization of the lawyers in the country, which has been agitating for almost a month, is handing over a letter to the major political parties on Monday demanding the impeachment of the Chief Justice.

NBA is going to hand over the letter of attention to the parties including Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, CPN-Unified Socialist and Janata Samajwadi Party among many others.

The Bar, which has been staging sit-ins in the Supreme Court, has now made the movement nationwide. NBA President Chandeshwor Shrestha said that a sit-in would be held on Monday.
