DHARAN: Mayor Mahendra Prasad Yadav of Bhokraha Narasimha Municipality, Sunsari has been arrested Wednesday on rape allegation.
According to Dharan police, the alleged rapist Yadav had tempted a 17-year old girl of Itahari to offer job in Municipality office and had raped her under the influence of alcohol.
The locals had informed the police after the Mayor left for Dharan forcing the girl to go with him in a government vehicle.
A police team led by Inspector Hemraj Oli of the Area Police Office Dharan arrested Yadav on the basis of a tip-off from a local.
The police had nabbed Yadav from Duku Hotel in Dharanal-4, Saranga.
Mayor Yadav is also the district leader of the Janata Samajwadi Party, Nepal.
