KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has stopped issuing no objection certificate (NOC) to five countries in view of increasing cases of COVID-19.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, the ministry said it stopped issuing NOC to Japan, Australia, South Korea, Bangladesh and China effective from today due to increasing cases of COVID-19.

“The government has stopped issuing NOC to five countries until futher notice from today,” said Narayan Prasad Pokharel, undersecretary at the Ministry of Education.

With the government’s directive to prevent and control the second wave of COVID-19 spreading in Nepal, the government has decided to stop issuing NOC to five countries, said Pokharel.

This decision on NOC does not, however, apply to those Nepali students who are already enrolled and studying in the universities of these countries, reads the statement.
