Hamro Nepali Keyboard App downloaded 10 mln times

KATHMANDU: Hamro Keyboard, one of the Nepal’s most popular apps, has been downloaded from the Google Play Store 10 million times.

Hamro Keyboard converts typed romanized Nepali into Nepali and Devanagari script for mobile app users.

The app was released in 2014, and became one of the fastest Nepali apps to be downloaded one million times.

Now it has been downloaded 10 million times. Hamro Keyboard app joins the Hamro Patro app as one of the few Nepali apps that have been downloaded so many times from the Google Play Store.

Nepali android users had to depend on Hindi keyboards for a long time to type Nepali from their phones. Shankar Uprety, Hamro Patro’s CEO, says this was a strong motivation for him to build Hamro Keyboard.

“Today, this app that allows Nepalis to easily type in their own language has been downloaded more than 10 million times. It is an incredibly exciting milestone. It is the result of our team’s tireless efforts and the belief and support that users have given to us,” says Uprety.

The app is very easy to customize according to size and shape, and allows users access to multiple keyboard themes and stickers. Further, Hamro Keyboard also includes voice-to-text features.
