Over 35,000 students to be inoculated at schools

DAMAULI: As many as 35,000 students are to be inoculated with Moderna COVID-19 vaccines at schools in Tanahun.

In collaboration with the District Health Office Tanahun, all 10 local levels are administering vaccines to the school students. Vaccine Officer at the Health Office Tanahun, Shanker Babu Adhikari informed that school students at the age group (12-17) would be provided with vaccination service at their schools.

He further shared that orientation was already imparted to the health workers at all local levels aiming to effectively run vaccination campaign.

Myagde rural municipality of the district is administering vaccination to the students of 13 schools on December 23. Inoculation centres have been set up in five schools for this, informed chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, Narayan Prasad Adhikari.

Likewise, Bandipur rural municipality is providing vaccination service to the students on December 21-23. Inoculation service would be provided to the students of 15 schools through eight vaccination centres.

Byas municipality is making preparation to conduct vaccination campaign on December 28.

It may be noted that the government has placed a nationwide vaccination campaign targeting children with 12-17 years in 57 districts from December 19 to January 1 for first dose and second dose on January 16-26 next year.

The government has urged all sides to encourage children to get inoculated as the vaccines are fully safe.
