Fourth phase of agitation: Lawyers to boycott court proceedings today



KATHMANDU: As part of its fourth phase of agitation against Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher Rana, lawyers of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) have decided to boycott all court proceedings on Sunday.

The fourth phase of agitation begins today with the lawyers demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Rana.

According to Nepal Bar General Secretary Lilamani Poudel, the programs of phase-wise agitation starting Sunday will continue till Friday.

Likewise, on Monday, the lawyers will organize a sit-in protest wearing black bands from 10 am to 12 pm in courts across the country and demonstration will be continued and memorandums will be handed over to the parties in the parliament.

On Tuesday, lawyers will not do any work in courts and most of the legal proceedings will be halted.

On Wednesday, a mass demonstration will be held in the district and high courts and places where benches of the courts are constituted in the presence of Nepal Bar Association central representatives.

Thursday and Friday will be more Kathmandu or Supreme Court-centric programs, with Bar members of all units in Kathmandu will participate in a massive demonstration against CJ Rana.

Meanwhile, Nepal Bar also postponed its national assembly slated to be held from December 10 to 12 in Pokhara.
