Nepal Police Club beats Lumbini by 74 runs in PM Cup Cricket



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club defeated Lumbini Province by 74 runs in the ongoing Prime Minister Cup Men’s One-day Cricket Tournament in Kathmandu on Thursday.

Chasing the target of 311 runs set Police at the match played at the Kirtipur-based University Cricket Ground Lumbini scored 236 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.

Saurabh Khanal of Lumbini scored 74 runs off 60 balls hitting five sixes and one four.

Similarly, captain Krishna Karki made 40 runs off 24 balls with the help of five sixes, while Dev Khanal scored 49 runs and Sandeep Rajaili scored 40 runs.

Rashid Khan and Pawan Shraff took two wickets each for Lumbini while Sagar Dhakal, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi took one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, Police put 310 runs on the board losing four wickets in stipulated 50 overs.

Pawan Shraff, a young police player, struck a record half-century against Lumbini. He holds the record for the fastest fifty in Prime Minister’s Cup cricket.

He faced 13 balls and scored 50 runs with the help of six sixes and 1 four.

Similarly, Sunil Dhamala scored a century for the police. He faced 145 balls and scored 104 runs with seven fours and one six.

Krishna Karki, Dipendra Rawat, Saurabh Khanal, and Anil Kharel of Lumbini took equal one wicket against the police.

With the win, Police Club has got four points from three games while Lumbini has garnered two points from two games.
