IQAir says Kathmandu is world’s ninth “most polluted” city



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s capital Kathmandu has been placed as the ninth most polluted city in the world.

Pakistan’s Lahore is the world’s most polluted city, according to a live update from IQAir, a European body that measures the air quality, and operates AirVisual, a real-time air quality information platform.

There is an air quality index of PM-2.5 (particulate matter) at 407 micrograms per cubic meter per hour, which is fatal

.

IQAir is a Swiss air quality technology company, specializing in protection against airborne pollutants, developing air quality monitoring and air cleaning products.

It also operates AirVisual, a real-time air quality information platform.

However, the PM-2.5 level in Kathmandu reached 176 per hour on Saturday morning, according to IQAir.

A score above 151 is considered unhealthy.

The IQAir has placed Incheon, a city in South Korea as the second-most polluted city on Saturday, while New Delhi, the capital of India is in the third.
