Former Maoist leaders will get “dignified” positions in UML: Nemwang

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Standing Committee member Subash Chandra Nemwang has said that the leaders who join the party by abandoning the Maoist Center would be given a dignified place in the General Convention.

The 10th general convention of the CPN-UML is being held in Chitwan on November 28-30.

Nemwang, who is also the deputy leader of the UML parliamentary party, said that the former Maoist leaders would be given a respectable position on the basis of consensus as it would be difficult for them to come out of the competition.

“We do not call them Maoist leaders, we call them leaders of the Unified Communist Party. However, as they are colloquially called ex-Maoists, it may not be easy for them to compete in the General Convention. So we have to think about bringing them into the leadership,” he said.

According to him, discussions and homework are being carried out at the leadership level.

Leaders of Maoist Center Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal”, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Mani Thapa, Lekhraj Bhatt, Prabhu Sah and others have joined the UML by abandoning their previous party.
