Two rhinos including one calf found dead in CNP

CHITWAN: Two rhinos were found dead at the Chitwan National Park on Sunday.

According to CNP information officer Lokendra Adhikari, one baby rhinoceros (two-month-old) was found dead on the bank of Rapti River near Kasara. The rhino calf might have been killed by a tiger, it is said.

Similarly, an adult rhino of around 30 years of age was found lifeless at Ratanpur Ghat of the Amaltari sector.

The animal was found stuck in the sand on the bank of the Narayani River. Its horn and hooves are intact, suggesting that the animal might have died naturally.

Last fiscal, 32 rhinos died due to poaching and natural causes in the CNP. RSS
