Historic Timbu Bazaar of Helambu at risk due to floods

HELAMBU: Timbu Bazaar of Helambu-1 – a historical and tourist site – is at risk of being washed away by floods in the Helambu River.

Three houses in the market area have been damaged by the floods last week while the remaining 40 houses are at risk.

The risk of destruction of these historically important markets has increased if the authorities failed to act on time.

Locals, meanwhile, have been terrified as the floods continue to erode.

This market, which has a bus park, ward liaison office, and a Stupa, has been playing the role of a liaison market in the mountainous region of Sindhupalchowk district.
