100 households shifted to safe places in Karnali

DULLU: Forty households from Chhepadi village of Athbiskot Municipality-9, and 60 households on the bank of Karnali River have been shifted to safe places following the imminent threat of landslides triggered by the incessant rainfall.

Deputy Superintendent of Police at District Police Office, Anupam Shrestha, informed that the households were relocated in view of the growing risk of landslides and floods that could damage the settlements.

Following the relocation, the locals expressed happiness and thanked the police persons for the rescue.

Meanwhile, the Karnali Highway blocked for a week after a landslide is yet to reopen.

The highway was blocked and damaged in several places with the landslides.

Debris at Siyala, Kitubhir, Dahikhola, Ghattekhola and other places have obstructed the roadway.

The obstruction of roadway has disrupted the vehicular movement, thereby leaving people and supplies stranded on the road. Chief District Officer in Dailekh, Hari Pyakurel, admitted that resumption of highway was delayed for recurring landslides.
