Person arrested on charge of swindling Rs 1.5 million in the name of ensuring US visa



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a person on the charge of swindling Rs 1.5 million. Claiming to be the chairperson of National Human Rights Commission, the person swindled people in the name of providing multiple vis to the United States.

A team of the Metropolitan Crime Branch arrested Tulasi Thapa, 60, a temporary resident of Chabahil, Mitra Park from Durbar Marg.

A permanent resident of Panchkhapan Village Municipality-5 of Sankhuwasabha, Thapa claimed to be the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and swindled money by saying that he would be sent people to the United States.

He has been sent to Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Station for necessary action on fraud related charges.

According to the police, Thapa had swindled Rs 1.5 million from a person by promising to take him to the United States with a five-year multiple entry visa when he went to a program in the United States.
