All-party meeting begins after ruling parties conclude talks

KATHMANDU: An all-party meeting has begun after discussion among ruling coalition partners concluded in Baluwatar Sunday.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba called an all-party meeting today to seek consensus on the United States grant project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The agenda of the all-party meet is to discuss main opposition CPN-UML’s continuous obstruction in parliament and tabling MCC in Tuesday’s parliament session.

While the Nepali Congress is in favor of moving forward MCC, other ruling parties — CPN-Maoist Center and CPN-Unified Socialist — share differing views on the grant.

Prior to the all-party meeting, leaders of the ruling coalition held discussions in an effort to form a common view on the agenda, including MCC, to be presented at the all-party meeting.

Meanwhile, the main opposition CPN-UML is abstaining from the all-party meeting.
