KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet has claimed that it will be difficult for Madhav Kumar Nepal to manage 20 percent support of leaders for party registration.
Speaking at a program organized by the CPN-UML Bhaktapur district committee Thursday, Basnet said, “Central members and lawmakers nominated by leader Nepal for his new party have started withdrawing their names. Leader Nepal faces a challenge to reach 20 percent support.”
He urged party cadres to discourage people from joining Nepal’s new party to hinder Nepal side’s attempt to gain 20 percent central members and parliamentarians. He concluded that the UML had split due to the conspiracy of Deuba and Prachanda.
He said, “Even though some people left the UML, it did not affect the party. The split in UML has impact in Bhaktapur.”
He also said Speaker Agni Sapkota ought to implement UML’s action against 14 lawmakers at the earliest.
